Clinical Nurse Consultant – Young People’s Health Service
Employment: Parttime, fixed term to 30.06.2021
Salary: $98,800.00 (Pro-rata)
Location: Parkville – Hub of the medical precinct and leading Children’s hospital
The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

The Young People's Health Service (YPHS) is a community based primary health care service for young people between the ages of 12 and 24 years who are experiencing homelessness and or marginalisation. YPHS is one of a range of support services working out of Melbourne City Mission’s Frontyard Youth Services in the central business district of Melbourne. YPHS provides direct care, works collaboratively with other agencies, provides secondary consultation and delivers professional development in young people’s health. Clients of YPHS often have multiple and complex health needs and present from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds. The Clinical Nurse Consultant provides primary health care clinical services to high risk young people via ‘drop in’ clinics, clinical refuge outreach and clinical street outreach. The Clinical Nurse Consultant also plays a key role in fostering working relationships with stakeholders and in planning, implementation and reporting on YPHS services.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Extensive post graduate nursing experience.
- Minimum of two years in an advanced practice nursing role in a community setting, preferably with adolescents and young adults
- A master’s qualification in either adolescent health, public health, community health, mental health, sexual and reproductive health or forensic health is highly desirable.
